The 6th Love Language- Music
Sept 29
I guess it’s only fitting to send the first blog off spilling the tea. Is that what they call it? “Spilling the tea”. I thought about a simple, “Welcome to my website!”, message. But I rather not be that boring.
Nah, the real reason- My intention for 2022 has been to create more meaningful connections and have more intentional conversations. So, these blogs will be a peek into the deeper corners of me. Stuff I keep to myself, notes, poems, just a digital diary to share with you folks.
Sometimes I may stay on topic, sometimes my A.D.D. mind might steer down the path of “Off Topic”, but! It. Will. Always. Be. Intentional. Rajah? Rajah.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the 5 love languages, and I think it needs some updating. How did we forget about the 6th love language. Music.
[Music is my love language.]
I remember sharing new music on a first date- sitting in the car of a Walmart parking lot at 1 am, passing back and forth the phone, and taking turns sharing our secret playlist of live performances on YouTube. Thinking we were the only two people in Hawaii listening to My Mind by Yebba. That is my shit. Sharing songs that heal us, pain us, and songs others just won’t understand why you have it saved. We learned a lot about each other in that moment.
Before I get off topic, the topic is: Here’s Sierra’s Secret Playlist
I feel like you can really get to know someone by the songs in their playlist. Who they are, what they like, are they introverted/extroverted, what kind of personality they have, if they’re heartbroken or buzzing.
For me, music fills the gaps of emotions I don’t quite have the words for.
Each song in my playlist serves a purpose and has a bit of me latched onto it. It has its own set of thoughts, memories, and emotions weaved together through its melodies. It’s like a timestamp of our lives.
Here’s Sierra’s Secret Playlist (you’re welcome)
13/1,886 songs from my Spotify playlist.
(in no particular order)
So the next time someone share’s a song with you from their playlist, listen to it more carefully.
Or before you get to dating someone, do yourself a favor and I don’t know… ask them for their playlist.
